Momo is an egg-shaped navigation device that communicates with a user solely through touch. Momo’s internal GPS system allows it to be programmed to gravitate toward a preset location. When the device is activated, it physically rotates and leans in the appropriate direction, so that a user must only hold the Momo and follow its movements to find her way. As a result, the device takes on animate qualities, reinforced by its homey crocheted shell, and a more human interaction, similar to following a trusted friend, is made possible. The designers hope that the Momo ultimately “provides positive emotional experiences, enabling people to feel empowered in unfamiliar spaces.”
