Continuity, a two-dimensional
puzzle-solving game, twists our spatial
perceptions like an M. C. Escher universe.
Players guide a character through
32 different mazes, running and
jumping and collecting special items along
the way. The designers ingeniously fused
two classic game types, the tile game
and the platform game; the character’s
movements along a shifting landscape
are reminiscent of Super Mario Brothers
and Donkey Kong, and there is also
a strategic element: at every level the
tiles must be arranged to open a pathway
to a magic red door. The challenge is
to reach the exit as well as to solve
a devilish spatial puzzle.
