“It's time to stop talking about chairs,” says Lucas Maassen, “and let them talk back at us.” His Singing Chair does precisely that. On the back of the simple wood chair is a digital screen with a lifelike mouth that moves as the chair talks and sings in a deep voice reminiscent of old-time crooners. An interview with the Singing Chair showcases its wit, confidence, and allure as an object with a personality of its own.
