Each year MoMA’s Department of Film collaborates with the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar, an annual seminar series in upstate New York where filmmakers and other arts professionals explore thematic aspects of the moving image. Following the 61st seminar, held in June 2015 at Colgate University, a selection of the participating filmmakers will present their work at MoMA. This year’s seminar, programmed by Laura U. Marks, explores the idea that cinema, when treated in certain ways, can be as subtle as scent.
Organized in collaboration with the 2015 Robert Flaherty Film Seminar. Organized by Sally Berger, Assistant Curator, Department of Film, MoMA; with Laura U. Marks, scholar, theorist, and programmer of independent and experimental media arts; and Anita Reher, Executive Director, the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar.
