This latest edition of our series The Craft celebrates a pair of legendary film and television casting directors, Ellen Lewis and Laura Rosenthal, who will usher in a two-week sampling of their award-winning work with an onstage conversation on June 1, introduced by their mentor, the great Juliet Taylor. Ellen Lewis has collaborated with Martin Scorsese for 34 years and counting (from Goodfellas to his forthcoming Killers of the Flower Moon) and with Jim Jarmusch for 28 years (beginning with Dead Man); and she has also cast films by Mike Nichols, Steven Spielberg, and Penny Marshall, among many others. Laura Rosenthal has worked with Todd Haynes for over two decades—from Far from Heaven to his latest film, May December—and she has longtime casting relationships with Lisa Cholodenko, Paolo Sorrentino, Oren Moverman, Joachim Trier, Nora Ephron, and Jim Jarmusch, to name just a few.
Organized by Joshua Siegel, Curator, Department of Film.
