“I don’t have much of a formal education, and I’ve picked up a lot of my academic knowledge through conversations and relationships with intellectual men, sometimes professors, sometimes art handlers,“ says artist Gabrielle Bell. “But with any kind of education, we ultimately have to look back and unlearn and reinterpret it all through the lens of our own experience and judgement.” For the latest installment of Drawn to MoMA, Bell recounts two recent visits to the Museum, and considers how our attitudes toward art change over time.
