Leipzig-based cartoonist Anna Haifisch created The Artist—the frail, birdlike protagonist of her ongoing comic—to satirize “the exclusive, ephemeral, and frequently absurd world of fine art.” In this month’s Drawn to MoMA, she imagines The Artist’s visit to the Museum, where he attempts to make the best of a rash deception.

Anna Haifisch’s series The Artist appeared weekly in Vice and Le Monde. She is the author of the books The Artist, Von Spatz, and Drifter, and the founder of the Millionaires Club, a comics and graphics festival in Leipzig, Germany.
