Begun in 2014, Inbox was an ongoing series of installations showcasing new additions to MoMA’s collection. The Museum’s first brochure in 1929 outlined its “ultimate purpose” as “to acquire, from time to time, (either by gift or by purchase) a collection of the best modern works of art.” That remains central to our mission, and we acquire a diverse selection of modern and contemporary art every year to that end. It is through acquisitions that MoMA’s collection remains dynamic and continuously evolves; collection building involves significant research by curators and an ongoing reevaluation of the Museum’s history and priorities.

The Inbox series concluded in 2024, and we continue to highlight recent acquisitions to the collection with the Hyundai Card First Look series.
