Minitel terminal, digital poem transferred to video (color, silent; 35 sec.)
Not on view
The Movimento de Arte Pornô (Porn Art Movement) was founded in 1980 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During that time, the group staged pansexual public actions, including nude demonstrations and performances on Rio’s beaches—acts which remain illegal today. They also produced zines and comic books containing poems and detailing the group’s exploits. Following the gang’s dissolution in 1982, one of its founders, Eduardo Kac, turned to nascent cybernetic networks and created poetry for the Minitel, a terminal that connected users as a forerunner of the internet.
