Breaking with an 80-plus-year tradition of ticketed screenings in MoMA’s theaters, Open Door Fridays gives visitors unlimited, all-day access to specially selected film programs that will run continuously during Museum hours. The Department of Film celebrates the Museum’s 2019 reopening by offering a taste of a moviegoing experience that was commonly enjoyed by audiences from the early silent period through the 1960s: Every Friday, you are encouraged to drop in to the theater at any point and stay as long as you like to enjoy audience favorites and hidden gems from MoMA’s collection—with no tickets required!
Organized by the Department of Film.
Support for the exhibition is provided by the Annual Film Fund. Leadership support for the Annual Film Fund is provided by Steven Tisch, with major contributions from Jo Carole and Ronald S. Lauder, Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), The Brown Foundation, Inc., of Houston, Marlene Hess and James D. Zirin, Karen and Gary Winnick, and The Junior Associates of The Museum of Modern Art.
