Join the MoMA Teens Film Club for a free screening of Mai Masri’s films Children of Shatila and Frontiers of Dreams and Fears.
Children of Shatila, a poignant documentary that delves into the lives of children growing up in the Shatila refugee camp in Lebanon, offers a heartfelt glimpse into the resilience, dreams, and daily struggles of these young residents, set against the backdrop of their challenging environment. Through the eyes of two young protagonists, Mariam and Youssef, the documentary captures moments of joy, sorrow, and unwavering hope, highlighting the enduring human spirit amidst adversity.
Frontiers of Dreams and Fears is a documentary exploring the profound bond between two Palestinian girls, Mona and Manar, living in separate refugee camps in Lebanon and Bethlehem. Through their friendship, the film sheds light on the challenges and dreams of a generation growing up in the shadow of conflict. With evocative storytelling and intimate cinematography, it captures the girls’ resilience and the universal yearning for freedom and peace.
This screening will be followed by a conversation and audience Q&A.
After the screening and conversation, there will be a post-film mixer with complimentary food, activities, and music from 7:45 to 9:00 p.m.
This event is free but registration is required. This program is for folks ages 15–22.
