Queer Art Chats are a chance to build community among people interested in queer perspectives and art. No specialized understanding of art, art history, or queer theory is required; you already have all the knowledge you need to participate!
Each 1-hour online session is an opportunity for a small group of registered participants to view and discuss works from MoMA’s collection. Participants and facilitators will work together to generate ideas about these works, highlighting LGBTQ+ perspectives.
Register here for the session on November 18th at 6:30pm EST, facilitated by Isa Saldaña, Amber Hunnicutt, and Makayla Bailey.
Amber Hunnicutt is an educator whose practice centers black and queer liberation. She is currently a fellow in the Department of Education at MoMA, where she coordinates and teaches family programs and initiatives. Amber is also a member of Regeneración NYC, a collective that participates in child-raising as a form of resistance that builds radical communities and relationships.
Isa Saldaña writes and performs, with attention to how blackness, indigeneity, earth, and intimacy exist in relationship with one another. They are currently a joint fellow between MoMA and The Studio Museum in Harlem as well as Editor of &, a space for experimental feminist theory-making and artistic practice in Women & Performance, a journal of feminist theory.
Makayla Bailey is a writer and curator based in New York. Bailey is currently a joint curatorial fellow between MoMA (Department of Painting and Sculpture) and The Studio Museum in Harlem. Bailey co-organized Hearts in Isolation, the first digital exhibition at The Studio Museum in Harlem, as well as the winter 2020 season of Harlem Postcards. Her current research traverses environment and Black excess.
This session will be led virtually through Zoom, a free video-conferencing software. Participants are encouraged to use a computer, smart phone, or tablet with a camera and Internet access, if possible. Participants may also dial in using a phone line. Participants will receive a zoom link 24 hours before the program begins.

Queer Art Chats are a chance to build community among people invested in queer and trans perspectives, art, and liberation. No specialized understanding of art, art history, or queer theory is required; our own experiences and perspectives will form the basis for participation. In each session, participants will work with facilitators and each other to collectively generate ideas about queerness and transness.
