This season, Warm Up is partnering with New York City's Know Wave on a series of weekly radio programs and a line of limited-edition merchandise. Each Saturday, Warm Up Radio will broadcast live from MoMA PS1, featuring special coverage of Warm Up artists, curators, and members of New York’s creative community—giving listeners unique, behind-the-scenes access to one of New York City’s longest-running museum music programs. In addition, Know Wave has created an exclusive Warm Up-inspired capsule collection that will be available on-site at Warm Up and online at know-wave.com.
Over its 20 seasons, Warm Up has featured more than 750 artists, including pop artists Solange, Jamie XX, and Grimes, experimental musicians Arca, Black Dice, and Four Tet, and legendary DJs like DJ Premier, Ritchie Hawtin, and Kim Ann Foxman. As one of the longest-running music programs within a museum, Warm Up has a history of supporting emerging artists and providing a platform for experimentation, unique collaborations, and new material.
An integral part of MoMA PS1’s contemporary program, Warm Up provides an opportunity to engage with today’s most experimental and innovative artists across media. Audiences are encouraged to visit the exhibition galleries and experience MoMA PS1’s diverse exhibitions of emerging artists, new genres, and adventurous work by recognized artists. Warm Up 2017 will take place within a site-specific installation by Young Architects Program winner Jenny Sabin Studio made of photoluminescent textiles that transform over the course of a day.
During a Warm Up event, MoMA PS1's regular admission policies do not apply and group visits and tours are not available. A limited number of galleries are accessible during the event, and galleries may close early. MoMA members, MoMA Corporate Members, MoMA Corporate Student Members, MoMA admission ticket holders, MoMA Annual Pass holders, other museum staff, and unauthorized members of the press do not receive complimentary admission to Warm Up. Long Island City residents with proof of residency in ZIP codes 11101–11109 receive one free ticket on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that a limited number of LIC resident tickets are available at each Warm Up. Guests of LIC residents must purchase tickets.
Mandatory bag check occurs upon entry, and MoMA PS1 reserves the right to decide what objects are allowed on the premises. Entry and re-entry are not permitted after 8:40 PM. Warm Up takes place rain or shine. For those with event admission, M. Wells Dinette serves cocktails and food from noon to 9 PM. Outside food and alcohol is not permitted.
