Jennifer Katanic on Henri Matisse’s The Piano Lesson

Here, Jennifer Katanic, who works in the Accounting department, recounts a discussion about self-portraiture between Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, and suggests that the uncharacteristically muted colors of Matisse’s The Piano Lesson reflect his vision of a Paris riven by the First World War.
