May 29, 2024
In the online edition of MoMA’s ArtSpeaks program, we invite staff members, artists, and special guests to share personal impressions of an artwork in the galleries. Here, MoMA’s director, Glenn D. Lowry, reflects on his relationship with Richard Serra and the timeless nature of Serra’s 2015 sculpture Equal. Lowry sees Serra’s work as a “catalyst for a kind of meditation on who we are, where we are, and why we are on this planet.”
