Dynamic Spatial Variation

Designer: Verónica Arcos
Verónica Arcos proposes a dynamic structure as a space container. The architect's proposal consists of very light articulated arches positioned over buoys on long pools joined through an elastic membrane.
Water is an essential part of this system. Since there is almost no attrition between the water and the structure, its use allows for free movement and requires very little power to generate movement. In addition, there are articulations in the joints between the arches and buoys. This allows for the oscillatory and retractable motion of the structure, which is also aided by an elastic membrane tying up the modules. The energy needed to give movement to the structure is produced as the visitors push and pull it, as well as through the movement of the surrounding wind and the water.
