So when we received word that Sofia Coppola—who is herself represented in MoMA’s film collection—had directed a new video for Phoenix’s song “Chloroform,” we jumped at the opportunity to present the exclusive premiere.

Many people are not aware that tucked away within the MoMA organization is a film distributor. The Film Library was actually the original department, founded in 1935 to celebrate film as the art form of the 20th century.

The Unwritten Law: Reel Life/Real Life

On my way to MoMA each morning, I walk past the majestic Italian Renaissance revival building of the University Club of New York. This stronghold on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 54th Street was designed by the architectural firm of McKim, Mead, and White and completed in 1899.
