Giorgia Lupi, Stefanie Posavec Dear Data: Week 6 (Don't Touch Me Now / A Week of Physical Contact) 2014

  • Not on view

Imagine getting to know someone halfway across the world through postcards sent by snail mail—but instead of a picture and a brief message, these postcards are covered with hand-drawn symbols representing patterns from daily life. Lupi (based in New York) and Posavec (based in London) embarked on a yearlong project in which they did just this: each week, they chose a part of their life to represent in a “data drawing” to be exchanged through the mail. While information design today is typically associated with digital data, Posavec and Lupi focused on analog design to tell stories about ordinary events and small intrigues.
