As with early computers, hi-fi enthusiasts tended to assemble their own "stereo systems." There was much discussion of how to accommodate the many disparate components in modern living rooms. One solution was the popular storage wall that included space for vinyl records; another was the integrated music center that began to dominate in the 1970s, such as this one. Launched concurrently with the first Star Wars movie, the futuristic sculpted form of this "concept" system came in a choice of black ("Darth Vader") or light grey ("Skywalker").
