MoMA PS1’s pioneering outdoor music series Warm Up is one of the longest running music programs housed within a museum. As an integral part of MoMA PS1’s curatorial program for more than 20 years, Warm Up seeks to elevate innovative and underrepresented voices: emerging and established, local and global, and across genres.
Warm Up 2014 is programmed by a curatorial committee selected by the museum to represent a wide spectrum of expertise and experience in music, sound, and the performing arts, resulting in a unique lineup of artists that explore, interpret, and combine genres. Selected by Klaus Biesenbach, Director, MoMA PS1, and Chief Curator at Large, The Museum of Modern Art; and organized by Margaret Knowles, Curatorial Assistant and Warm Up Producer, MoMA PS1 and Eleanor McKinney, Director of Visitor Services, MoMA PS1, the Warm Up 2014 curatorial committee includes Dean Bein, Head of True Panther Sounds; Jonathan Galkin, Co-Founder of DFA Records; Eliza Ryan; Brandon Stosuy, Senior Editor for Pitchfork; Imogene Strauss, of Cool Managers; Matt Werth, Label Head of RVNG Intl.
Warm Up 2014 will feature rotating stage installations by local New York design talent—including CONFETTISYSTEM, Chen Chen and Kai Williams, Fort Makers, Fort Standard, Nightwood, and The Principals—organized by Jocelyn Miller, Curatorial Assistant, MoMA PS1.
In addition, Warm Up 2014 is partnering with ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 to host a Weekend Shop in the MoMA PS1 Print Shop storefront at 22-01 Jackson Avenue, just around the corner from the museum entrance. The shop will feature design objects by the Warm Up stage designers and music by Warm Up performers.
