Back by popular demand, MoMA presents an encore presentation of Gregory La Cava’s subversively funny The Half-Naked Truth (1932) and Bed of Roses (1933). La Cava (1892–1952) was responsible for some of the most caustic screwball comedies and political satires of the Great Depression. His depictions of class warfare and sexual subversion are populated by a rogue’s gallery of fast-talking, pie-eyed schemers, no more in evidence than in these two pre-Code gems.
