Cinéfondation, Cannes 2005

Apr 28–30, 2006

MoMA

Seven years ago the Cannes International Film Festival established Cinéfondation, a not-for-profit organization that promotes the work of student filmmakers in postgraduate programs. In 2005, an international jury handed out five awards to filmmakers from schools in New York (Columbia University and New York University), France (La fémis and Le Fresnoy), and Israel (Tel Aviv University). The jurists included Edward Yang (President, Taiwan), Chantal Akerman (Belgium), Colin MacCabe (Great Britain and Ireland), Yousry Nasrallah (Egypt) and Sylvie Testud (France). Program: 128 min.

Organized by Laurence Kardish, Senior Curator, Department of Film and Media. Thanks to Laurent Jacob, coordinator of the Cinéfondation competition for Cannes.
