These Are Not My Images (neither there nor here). 2000. USA/France/Germany/Great Britain. Directed by Irit Batsry. Soundtrack by Stuart Jones. Batsry interweaves elements of different genres—documentary, essay, experimental, narrative—to question the ways that we see and present reality. The story follows the encounter between a disillusioned Western filmmaker accompanied by a half-blind guide, and a local filmmaker, in Tamil Nadu, India. The film won the Whitney Biennial Bucksbaum Award in 2002, and is a recent Jerome Foundation acquisition for MoMA’s Film and Media Archive. 80 min.

Organized by Sally Berger, Assistant Curator, Department of Film and Media.
