  • MoMA, Floor T2/T1 The Debra and Leon Black Family Film Center

In the lead-up to the 2023 edition of our yearly Doc Fortnight nonfiction festival, this matinee program celebrates filmmakers who have indelibly shaped the documentary form, and whose work figures prominently in MoMA’s collection and exhibition history. Spanning themes of political upheaval, ecology, labor organizing, Indigenous land rights, policing, and motherhood, these films address issues that remain at the forefront of nonfiction filmmaking today.

Organized by Sophie Cavoulacos, Associate Curator, and Olivia Priedite, Film Program Coordinator, Department of Film.

  • This film series is part of Modern Matinees.

Film at MoMA is made possible by CHANEL.

Additional support is provided by the Annual Film Fund. Leadership support for the Annual Film Fund is provided by Debra and Leon D. Black, with major contributions from The Contemporary Arts Council of The Museum of Modern Art, Jo Carole and Ronald S. Lauder, the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), The Junior Associates of The Museum of Modern Art, and Karen and Gary Winnick.
