Author and ex-child star Diana Serra Cary returns to the Museum in person on September 5 to introduce the New York premiere of Vera Iwerebor's documentary Baby Peggy: The Elephant in the Room (2010) and a selection of her newly restored silent comedies (which will be announced shortly). Born in 1918 and cast in her first role at 19 months in age, Cary headlined a series of Century Comedy shorts and Universal features between 1919 and 1926, rivaling the fame of her male counterpart Jackie Coogan, and predating the sound-era celebrity of Shirley Temple. Cary and Iwerebor will be present for a Q&A and autograph session after the premiere screening.
