The Museum of Modern Art marks the first half of its 32nd annual survey of recent German cinema with the New York premiere of Kino! veteran Tom Tykwer’s most recent film, Three, which was a substantial hit in Germany; the enormously popular serialized television movie The Weissensee Saga: A Berlin Love Story; a new documentary about the publisher Gerhard Steidl, How to Make a Book with Steidl, featuring a number of contemporary artists; Florian Cossen’s award-winning debut film The Day I Was Not Born; a documentary on Pina Bausch by Anne Linsel and Rainer Hoffmann; a disturbing drama by Philip Koch; and the popular Next Generation program of new shorts from German film schools.
