Canadian Front 2011

Mar 16–21, 2011

MoMA

Score: A Hockey Musical. 2010. Canada. Directed by Michael McGowan

Now in its eighth year, Canadian Front is MoMA’s annual survey of notable recent films from both English- and French-speaking Canada. This year’s festival includes two musicals from Ontario; two documentaries about exceptional personalities whose fame is due not only to their talent but also to their exposure in the media; a film from Canada’s West Coast about a community of Iranian refugees living there; and three films from Quebec—a thriller, a melancholy comedy, and the sole entry from a Canadian Front veteran, a startling film that turns fiction on its head. All films are from Canada.

Organized by Laurence Kardish, Senior Curator, Department of Film, in association with Telefilm Canada. Special thanks to Brigitte Hubmann, Project Manager, Telefilm Canada.
