This exhibition features work created as part of MoMA’s Prime Time Summer Camp for older New Yorkers. Over 250 older New Yorkers took part in this week of dynamic studio- and conversation-based programs that explored modern and contemporary art at MoMA and around the city. The works on view in this exhibition were created in four studio classes: Abstract Printmaking, Portrait Photography, Sculpture for the Body, Shaping Paintings. Guided by MoMA teaching artists, Prime Timers experimented with new materials and processes, honed their art-making skills, and developed complex works over the course of multiple sessions.
Through Prime Time we hope to emphasize the essential role that art can play in a fulfilling aging process—one defined by curiosity, creativity, connectedness, and continued growth. We are proud to present these artworks in celebration of the participants’ vitality and creative spirit. We wish to applaud the individuals represented in this exhibition and thank them for their openness and enthusiasm.
