Using a cast mainly composed of young teenagers in social reinsertion programs (and a new star in Portuguese cinema: Ana Moreira), Teresa Villaverde builds an expressive, honest portrait of teen angst and marginal lives in a country celebrating its most significant economic boom. This brutal portrait of people abandoned by an older generation and struggling to survive a life of hustling, homelessness, and abuse echoes Nicholas Ray’s orphaned love stories and tales of longing and loneliness.

This film accompanies The Ongoing Revolution of Portuguese Cinema.
