Johnnie To joins forces with action choreographer and director Ching Siu-tung (A Chinese Ghost Story) for this sequel to The Heroic Trio (1993), featuring the same all-star female cast of Maggie Cheung, Anita Mui, and Michelle Yeoh. This equally exhilarating, action-packed genre mash-up—a meeting of comic-book superheroes and martial arts fighters—opens in a postapocalyptic wasteland plagued by water shortages and political mayhem. The three warriors reunite to combat mass suffering in this thrilling drama, which mixes emotional depth and sensational action.
