We will be joined by the artist LaToya Ruby Frazier, and the walk-through will be led by Roxana Marcoci, The David Dechman Senior Curator and Acting Chief Curator in the Department of Photography.

The Black Arts Council is a community of patrons, philanthropists, collectors, and art enthusiasts dedicated to the elevated visibility, access, and appreciation of art and artists of the African diaspora at The Museum of Modern Art. Founded in 1993 by Dr. Akosua Barthwell Evans, Agnes Gund, and David Rockefeller Jr., the Black Arts Council (BAC) began as the Friends of Education, a trailblazing initiative to fund acquisitions and exhibitions of Black art, create opportunities for Black artists and arts professionals at MoMA, and host special educational programs that helped cultivate a more reflective museum audience. By funding a yearlong curatorial internship at the Museum for aspiring curators of color, the Black Arts Council invests in an artistic tradition at MoMA that centers Black perspectives in contemporary art around New York City and across the Museum’s global reach.
Each season, the BAC agenda features two to three events per month. In addition to exclusive BAC events and gatherings, members are invited to selected exhibition opening receptions, parties, performances, art fairs, and more. To learn more about the benefits and how to become a member, please contact Alayah Glenn at (212) 408-8541 or [email protected].
