Winner of César Awards for best film, director, and screenplay, Tonie Marshall’s now-classic comedy brings together two generations of wonderful French actresses—Bulle Ogier, Nathalie Baye (Every Man for Himself, The Green Room), Marshall’s mother Micheline Presle (Devil in the Flesh), Marie Rivière (The Green Ray and other Éric Rohmer films), Emmanuelle Riva (Hiroshima mon amour), Edith Scoob (Eyes without a Face, Holy Motors), Mathilde Seigner (Dry Cleaning), and a then-unknown Audrey Tatou (Amélie)—in a story of comradery between beauticians and their clients, female desire, and the search for true love.
