In conjunction with the gallery exhibition Projects: Dineo Seshee Bopape, the artist joins us to present a selection of her single-channel video work, followed by a discussion with curator Martha Joseph. Based in Southern Africa, Bopape is known for her attention to natural materials such as soil, water, rock, and clay. In installations that bring together video, sound, and sculptural elements, her work considers how memory, history, and Afro-diasporic spiritualities animate the physical world around us. With a particular focus on Bopape’s moving-image practice, the conversation will touch on material and conceptual throughlines in her work from the early 2000s to today. The program will conclude with an audience Q&A.
