In the Making provides free, hands-on studio art courses for New York City high school students every summer. No previous art-making or arts experience is necessary to take part.
This summer, In the Making participants will explore the question, What is your oasis in the city? Through experimentation, discussion, and exploration of various art-making materials and processes like drawing, photography, sculpture, performance, and collage, participants will create their own space for shelter, joy, and community. Participants will take inspiration from the city, MoMA’s collection, and their own worlds.
In the Making participants will meet at MoMA three times a week for five weeks from July 11 through August 11, 2023. Teen participants are required to attend every class. MoMA will provide each participant with all required art materials, MetroCards for transportation to and from the museum, snacks during classes, as well as cover any other costs associated with participating.
To apply, you must complete an online application and send in one letter of recommendation. For inquiries, contact [email protected].
Applications are due by Monday, June 5, at 11:59 p.m.
