The haunting psychological toll of the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is laid bare in this powerful documentary, which follows a group of soldiers in a post-traumatic stress disorder therapy center in Northern California. Intense and emotionally raw, Bécue-Renard’s film achieves an intimacy rarely captured on film through the confessions of men who search for respite from what killing—and bearing witness to it—can do to the human mind. Winner, Best Feature-Length Documentary, International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam 2014.
