The Strain is a television series co-created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan and based on their series of novels. After a mysterious event on a commercial airliner results in several deaths, a viral epidemic begins to take hold in New York City. CDC investigator Ephram Goodweather (Corey Stoll) must act quickly to control the contagion and save humanity. Del Toro directed Night Zero, the series’ first episode, which opens with the discovery of the plane and the first signs of the mysterious virus.
