Long Weekend ’s memorable tagline read, “Their crime was against nature—nature found them guilty.” The casually destructive behavior of a squabbling couple camping in unspoiled woodland by the sea motivates a deadly punishment in this psychological thriller. The premise of this seminal eco-horror milestone resonates with Alfred Hitchcock’s classic The Birds, made 18 years before, and Gaia (2021), which also appears in this series. The misdemeanors committed by the characters in Long Weekend are likely to seem very familiar; be more mindful the next time you go camping.
