An intoxicating experiment in stereoscopic 3D cinema, Prototype takes the Galveston Hurricane of 1900—the deadliest in American history—as an entry point to explore 20th-century America and beyond. Through the static of a 1960s CRT television set, anachronistic images portend our collective doom while proselytizing for a future still to come. Williams’s singular work is a mysterious storm of nature and modernity, a deeply sensory journey into our unknown future that leaves one wondering, is Earth the only planet with 3D movies?
