Payal Kapadia, a graduate of the National Film and Television Institute of India, is a bold and exciting new voice in Indian cinema. Her debut feature, Night of Knowing Nothing won Best Documentary at Cannes and was a success at the New York Film Festival. The film is at once an intimate letter to an estranged lover and a cri de coeur for Indian youth to rise up against the sectarian and caste-based violence that has grown increasingly dire during the Narendra Modi regime.
