An ornate European hotel is the sumptuous stage for this extravagant fable, featuring a suave concierge (an impeccable Ralph Fiennes), a newly deceased dowager (an unrecognizable Tilda Swinton), and a wet-behind-the-ears lobby boy (newcomer Tony Revolori). A tale of murder, duplicity, and ultimate reward in 1930s Eastern Europe, Wes Anderson’s biggest commercial hit is filled with his favorite acting collaborators. Winner of four Academy Awards, this film is best accompanied by baked delight from Mendl’s Patisserie.
