Amorphous is no longer able to perform due to a personal emergency.
On three consecutive Saturdays—August 7, August 14, and August 21—MoMA PS1 will present the pioneering summer outdoor music series, Warm Up, online and in-person with limited capacity, featuring sets from 4-8 p.m. (doors open at 2 p.m.), access to exhibitions and art in the Courtyard, and refreshments by Mina’s. Highlights include Amorphous, Yung Baby Tate, Yu Su, glaive and ericdoa, Sango, foreigner, La Goony Chonga, and more.
This year’s program will be performed from Rashid Johnson’s Stage, a participatory installation and sound work that draws on the history of the microphone as a tool for protest and public oratory. During this time, Stage is tented and framed by a design by artist duo Wretched Flowers. This new location in the center of the Courtyard also harkens back to the earliest days of Warm Up, when performances were often viewed in the round.
Now in its 24th season, Warm Up is one of the longest running music programs housed within a museum. As an integral part of PS1’s curatorial program, Warm Up seeks to elevate innovative, underrepresented voices and connect fans with music’s most important artists. The program’s alumni include contemporary creators Solange, Black Dice, Cardi B, Jamie XX, Lizzo, Skepta, Thom Yorke, Four Tet, and A-Trak as well as legendary DJs including Derrick May, DJ Premier, and Honey Dijon.
Safety is our top priority. PS1 is following all state and local regulations for outdoor events, including: reduced capacity, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test required for entry, and face masks required indoors. Our staff will also be wearing face masks (indoors and out), because we take care of eachother. On the day of the event, all ticket holders will be required to provide a valid ID and one of the following:
- Proof of vaccination (at least 14 days after final dose). Valid proof of vaccination includes a CDC-issued vaccination card or photo of vaccination card, the New York State Excelsior Pass, or CLEAR app. Proof of vaccination must match ID.
- Negative COVID-19 test results from a PCR test taken within 72 hours of entry or an antigen (rapid) test taken within six hours of entry. Physical or digital copy of test results must match ID.
Free tickets for Long Island City residents.
Long Island City residents with proof of residency in ZIP codes 11101 or 11109 will receive one complimentary ticket, which can be booked online via Eventbrite. Please note that LIC resident tickets are limited and will not be available at the door. Ticket holders will be required to present proof of residency at entry.
On the Sunday after each Warm Up date, The Rockaway Hotel will bring the talent and sounds of Warm Up to the Rockaways with DJ sets from the emerging musicians of PS1’s signature music program from 4-6 p.m. Visit The Rockaway Hotel's website for more information.
