This special event marks the US premiere of Ken Okiishi’s much-anticipated feature Vital Behaviors. Mining social media and memory to map pathways to both self-identity and collective desire, the work finds an ideal setting in the communal, celebratory, and ephemeral cinematic venue of MoMA’s Sculpture Garden. Following this outdoor launch, the film—which builds on Okiishi’s longtime interest in how bodies and images move through space and across platforms—migrates to both streaming and in-person theatrical presentations at MoMA through August 6.
In the event of rain, this screening will take place on July 31.
