Stuck inside? We’re bringing MoMA to you. Join us for a night in with our membership community as part of a new monthly series offering opportunities to get creative, catch a performance, practice a new skill, and more.
This month, uncover the history of New York City’s iconic subway map, originally commissioned in 1967 on the recommendation of MoMA curator Mildred Constantine. Designers Yoshiki Waterhouse and Beatriz Cifuentes, who developed the more recent iterations of the design, will share the challenges of representing the subway’s complex system of routes and connections. BYO colored pencils and paper (or print out this optional worksheet) to try your hand at transportation mapping in a guided activity.
