This two-part NBC television drama examines the hardships and achievements of the African American abolitionist Harriet Tubman. Defiant and determined, Tubman facilitated the perilous journey of slaves more than a dozen times to areas in the North where they could live free. Born into slavery around 1822 as Araminta Ross, Tubman earned the nickname “Moses” as she led her people to freedom and safety, much like the Biblical leader. Always committed to bettering people’s lives or alleviating persecution, Tubman joined the women’s suffrage movement in the late 19th century. Digital file
