In this 19-century Russian fairy tale, brother and sister Tyltyl and Mytyl go in search of the blue bird of happiness. Helped on their journey by a fairy called Light, the children are eager to find the bird to relieve the misery of a sick neighbor child. This US-Soviet co-production was made by the great George Cukor, who would direct only two more films before his death in 1983.
