Pistol-packin’ matriarch Madea is planning her annual family reunion which, will also coincide with her niece’s wedding. In gathering her family, Madea is disappointed by some of the behavior of the younger generation. At the family homestead, a small but well-tended cabin that belonged to her slave ancestors, Madea calls attention to the long journey the kinfolk have made to freedom. Cicely Tyson, as Aunt Myrtle, gives an impassioned telling-off to the family members who dare to disrespect the memory of their ancestors.
