Alex Cross. 2012. USA. Directed by Rob Cohen. Screenplay by Marc Moss, Kerry Williamson. Based on the novel by James Patterson. With Cicely Tyson, Tyler Perry, Edward Burns. DCP. 101 min.
On the eve of his departure from Detroit homicide for an FBI desk job in Washington, DC, detective Alex Cross catches the bizarre case of a lone assassin killing local financiers. As his “signature,” the stealthy killer always leaves a sketch at the scene of the crime, earning him the nickname Picasso. Alex could justifiably turn his back on Detroit, but that flight gene is not a part of his robust DNA. More than likely he inherited his determination and spirit from his mother, known as Nana Mama (Tyson).
