The second episode of Edison’s Girl Who Earns Her Living series casts McCoy as an accountant who uncovers an embezzlement scheme. Based on a screenplay by a popular writer of historical romances, Mary Imlay Taylor, The Ploughshare is a transitional four-reel feature set in the antebellum South, where McCoy is caught up in a deadly competition between a politician and his caddish half-brother. Some striking imagery from Collins redeems an uncertain narrative structure. Piano accompaniment by Makia Matsumura (September 12), Ben Model (September 17).
