Kinder and gentler than their Sennett Biograph counterparts, Edison comedies tended toward folksy, rural character pieces, often filmed in the suburban wilds surrounding their studio at Decatur Avenue and Oliver Place in the Bronx. Getting to the Ball Game includes glimpses of a 1914 game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Giants; the charming All on Account of a Transfer is a still relevant account of a German tourist’s difficulties with the New York City transit system. Piano accompaniment by Ben Model (September 10), Makia Matsumura (September 23).
