The Villages in central Florida is the world’s largest retirement community, where some 130,000 mostly white residents live out their twilight years in a tropical utopia of canasta games and singles mixers. But as they struggle to find happiness and meaning in their lives, the four protagonists of Lance Oppenheim’s bittersweet, absurdist documentary discover that this “Disneyland for Retirees” may not be the stuff that American Dreams are made of.
